This is an online class. Instruction includes a weekly tutorial, individual feedback and critique, and a weekly Zoom session where the class can discuss topics and share with each other. All levels are welcome, and you can participate from anywhere.
This class will help you develop confidence with the pastel medium, including building a strong composition, understanding values, creating light and shadow, and developing cohesive color harmony to develop a strong painting from start to finish. Various underpainting techniques will be introduced. Students may use reference photos have taken yourself or paint from life. All levels of experience are welcome. Jane Penfield has won numerous awards for her work in national juried exhibits. She is a signature member of Connecticut Pastel Society, an elected member of the Academic Artists Association, member of the Salamagundi Club, NY, Pastel Society of America, Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, Connecticut Plein Air Painters, Lyme Art Association, and other local groups. She teaches pastel classes at Arts Center East in Vernon, where she also serves as president of the board of directors. She is available for workshops and demos.
