Joan Shapiro will lead a discussion of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird and her second novel, Go Set a Watchman. The latter takes place two decades after To Kill a Mockingbird, when Scout returns to her hometown from NYC during the civil rights movement. Joan suggests you read To Kill a Mockingbird first.

Joan Shapiro, founder of the Blue Spruce Press, earned a B.A. from Brandeis and an M.A.T. from Wesleyan. She has taught literature, writing, and communications at area colleges, most recently at the University of Hartford.
