ARTIST MEMBER Terry Cardinal

Born and raised in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut, my art background started as soon as I could hold a pencil. Many hours were spent in art classes throughout my primary and secondary school education. In my late twenties I completed two semesters of graphic design at Manchester Community College.
After a long hiatus, a career in Dental Hygiene and my children all grown, my creative juices began flowing again. I started with graphite and ink abstract pattern designs which led to color study, markers, colored pencils, and now watercolor. Taking an adult watercolor course, many tutorials, working online with artists one to one, workshops, reading books and plein air painting all have given me a passion for watercolor that led me to where I am today.
I love creating landscape paintings inspired by light and shadows. With a love for architecture, I am inspired by rural landscapes, cityscapes, old barns, farms, and homes.
In 2023 I became a member of the New England Watercolor Society. My watercolor painting “Route 203” was accepted into the members show “Spring into Art”. My painting “Reflections” was recently included in the 2023 NEWS Regional Open Juried Exhibition in October. I became a member of the Windham Regional Art Council this year with one shared gallery show. I have three paintings currently on display at the Silver Circle Art gallery “Gone Country” in Putnam, CT. I have done two commissioned pieces and as I grow my portfolio my future plans are gallery shows, commissioned works and teaching.
