ARTIST MEMBER Paul St. Onge

I have always been very interested in visual art. I studied photography for a few years and then became interested in painting. I found that the way I painted was related to the way I took photographs. I am intrigued by the effect light has on objects. I use light and shadow to try to create various moods in my paintings. I enjoy doing landscape, seascape, still life and interiors.
I am a representational painter but recently have been delving into abstraction. I find the process of creating abstracts very different. Whereas there is a fair amount of planning in a representational painting there is only an idea to start with in creating abstracts. From there the idea evolves as I go along. It’s exciting because I don’t know precisely what creative road I will take.
