ARTIST MEMBER Michael Lynch

My art is the food that fills and nourishes me. The thread that has woven my days together. The quest for the moment of art.

I realized some time ago that my work was essentially abstract in nature with representational elements contributing in their unique way to the composition and movement. To the dance. A banana becomes an excellent way to add cadmium yellow to a composition. Small sections of seaweed become an excellent reason to add Paynes grey. The representational elements play off each other, add context and meaning but rarely consume the work.

I work mostly in watercolor and acrylic these days although lately I’ve been eyeing my oils again. Oftentimes one work leads to the next forming loose series.
