ARTIST MEMBER Loretta Medeiros

As a child, Loretta spent countless hours drawing and as an adult, she continues to be fascinated by the beauty of nature. Subjects that intrigue this artist are fleeting moments captured, the exploration of light and atmosphere and the attempt to understand the beauty and mystery of nature. The artist has a new found passion for plein air painting where she produces anything from delicately rendered to an impressionistic style painting from study and memory. Still life paintings are often nostalgic in nature. Loretta has provided numerous demonstrations at various venues and teaches painting classes in her studio, Pirmas L’Artiste Studio. In 2016, Loretta won an award in the Academic Artists National Show for her piece titled Titmouse. She works in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel, watercolor, scratch board and acrylic. Loretta attended the Boston Museum of Fine Arts on a scholarship while in high school, has taken courses at Southeastern MA University, the Worcester Art Museum, a workshop from Timothy Clark, a workshop from Arts Pro-Temp, Linda Percoski, and more recently a workshop in Russian impressionism from master painter Nancy Seamons-Crookston.
