I can’t imagine not making art. Each of my  paintings is unique as are all our days. Sometimes life is orderly and peaceful; sometimes it’s busy, emotional and challenging. There are cloudy somber days and bright sunny carefree times. All this variation surfaces in my work. Oh, and I do get excited over surfaces and textures!
I work with encaustic paint, a wax based medium that’s manipulated with heated tools. Encaustic paintings have survived for centuries and yet the medium lends itself beautifully to permanent contemporary artwork. I  put down layers of pigmented wax paint on wood panels, fusing with a heat gun and often adding found elements and interesting papers. The possibilities are endless!
