ARTIST MEMBERDawna Hasara

The media of watercolor and its endless capacity to convey texture and atmosphere is what drives me to create paintings inspired by nature and local cultures. Taken up in retirement, I’ve dedicated much of my free time to learning the medium and to developing a personal voice that describes my love of light, composition, mood, and color.

A recent move to Connecticut to be closer to family has given me the opportunity to learn about this historic area and appreciate its unique beauty. I’m a member of the Lyme Art Association and the West Hartford Art League where I’ve exhibited over the past year. I’ve also recently joined the New Britain Art League While previously living in Texas for 15 years, I joined and became a board member of the Watercolor Art Society of Houston where I exhibited in many exhibitions and won several awards. I was also a member and award winner of the Lone Star Art Guild.

I’ve taken lessons from a variety of watercolor masters, both in studio and en plain air, from whom I’ve learned techniques that, with practice, have allowed me to gain a sense of confidence with my chosen media.

I love to travel and to be in the outdoors and I spend time when not painting enjoying and being inspired by the ever-changing landscapes offered by both. I also love learning about the cultures and history of places I have the opportunity to live in and visit.

My watercolor paintings primarily reflect my love of nature and the outdoors and can be viewed on my website or instagram page.
