Artist Member Spotlight: Emilie Beckwith
Emilie Beckwith has been an ACE Artist Member for several years, but hasn’t always been an artist. She was inspired to take up painting after receiving Christmas cards from her friends that were original watercolor paintings. “They were different, but both so beautiful.” In 2005, she decided to try painting and started taking classes.
“I came to painting later in life. Although I did not have formal training, I have taken numerous classes and workshops.” Watercolor has become her preferred medium, having started with watercolor classes, but she also began working in pastels in 2010.
Emilie has shown her watercolor paintings through the Manchester Art Association, in addition to Arts Center East exhibitions. She has also had paintings accepted by the Connecticut Watercolor Society and has since become a member. Emilie has also sold watercolor and pastel paintings on Cape Cod through the Guild of Chatham Painters.
Emilie draws inspiration from nature. She is drawn to the interaction of light and shadow on landscape. Recently she has been drawn to architecture, and she is often inspired by the animal life she finds.
